OM filed an appeal after its supporters were banned from traveling to Saint-Étienne

As part of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de , Olympique de travels to Saint-Etienne this Sunday. A meeting for which Roberto De Zerbi’s men will not be able to count on the support of their supporters since a decree from the Ministry of the Interior, published Friday in the Official Journal, prohibited the travel of Marseille supporters. “A real and serious risk of clashes between supporters of the two clubs exists”specifies the decree while Bruno Retailleau recalls that OM travel is very frequently a source of disturbances to public order, “both by brawls between supporters and by violence against the police or the throwing of firecrackers, smoke bombs or agricultural bombs, causes of injury or damage”. A decision which is added to the four travel bans already pronounced against the Marseille club (in addition to the restriction imposed against ) and which does not fail to annoy the Olympian management.

“Outside, it’s like with refereeing, I don’t understand. There are uncertainties in many decisions. With each ban, we fight, we contest and we seek to authorize travel under the best conditions. When you ban supporters from traveling, it is a failure for society and for French football. It’s more than a punishment. There are 1,000 ways to organize a trip. How can we not take charge of a fan trip in 2024? We have to find solutions because this is not normal. We are open to discussions, we are proactive. I don’t understand how we can’t find a solution with the authorities.”the president of OM, Pablo Longoria, recently protested. Obviously, his speech was not really heard and the Olympian club decided to file an appeal with the Council of State to contest this ministerial decree.
