the startlist of Friday’s race with the weather that…

At 11.45 the start of the second seasonal specialty challenge for the jet men: Odermatt, winner in Beaver Creek, starting with number 12 a few numbers after Sarrazin and before . Nine Italians, Franzoni has 27: fresh snow and wind are the dangers for the first of the two Val Gardena races.

A super-g that could prove very tough, due to the weather conditions that predict snow and wind arriving in the heart of Val Gardena, on that Saslong which on Friday will host the first of the two races scheduled on one of the slopes temple of speed, before the descent on Saturday (when the situation should be much better and with a sudden drop in temperatures).

Appointment at 11.45am (live on Eurosport 1/Discovery+ and Rai 2), with Ryan Cochran-Siegle who certainly didn’t catch a large number, and we’re talking about a potential outsider for the first Gardena challenge, with 1 anticipating Sejersted (another element capable of anything and who wasted a great chance in Beaver Creek a few goals from the end), then Hemetsberger, Alexander and Babinsky.

And here with number 6 Cyprien Sarrazin, second in the super-g that opened this season, a few hundredths behind Marco Odermatt: the cup holder and specialty leader will start with number 12, but between the Frenchman and the Swiss ( who is looking for the first victory of his career in Val Gardena) we will see Rogentin, Allegre, Pinturault, Read with number 11 and, just before the Canadian, Mattia Casse.

If the Piedmontese aims mainly at the downhill, who knows he might be able to pull off a great super-g again: the “tractor” will be the first of the nine Italians at the gate, with Dominik Paris who will wear the number 14 between two super bigs like Crawford (13 ) and Kriechmayr (15). The Austrian (by the way, it should be remembered that the Wunderteam is without the injured Haaser) is the last to have won the Saslong super-g, which was also his in 2019 (and there are three Val Gardena victories for the former world champion, with the descent in 2022).

Watch out for Lukas Feurstein, 3rd in Beaver Creek and expected with 16, as well as Murisier (n° 17) and von Allmen (19), but there could be several entries, especially if conditions were to change. And after Pietro Zazzi with the 22nd, the Norwegian Fredrik Moeller who finished 4th on his seasonal debut in the specialty on par with Giovanni Franzoni, who will have the 27th tomorrow. Of course, the technical context is very different from that of the Colorado track and less suitable for Brescia, but…

Italjet which keeps Abbruzzese at rest (who we will most likely see on the descent after the great 2nd test) and Franzoso, therefore lining up Innerhofer with number 38, Molteni (45), Alliod (n° 56), Schieder with number 58 and the owner of home Max Perathoner, junior world champion in the specialty and 60th of the 65 starters.
