Tottenham Hotspur made it through to the semifinal of the Carabao Cup as they secured a 4-3 win against Manchester United.
In what turned out to be an eventful cup tie, Ange Postecoglou’s side were cruising at 3-0 but conceded two avoidable goals as the visitors threatened to come back into the game.
However, the home side held on to secure the win and will now face holders Liverpool in the semifinals.
Christian Eriksen playing against Tottenham was an intriguing subplot from the game, with the Danish midfielder enjoying the best spell of his career under Mauricio Pochettino with the North London outfit.
And he was spotted enjoying a lovely embrace with Heung-min Son after the full-time whistle.
Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen enjoy warm embrace after Tottenham vs Man Utd
Both Son and Eriksen were named in the starting XI, although the latter was substituted early in the second half as Manchester United looked to turn the game around.
The Tottenham captain, on the other hand, scored an important late goal for his team as his corner kick landed up in the back of the net past the despairing dive of Atlay Bayindir, who claimed he was fouled by Lucas Bergvall and was booked for his protests.
After the full-time whistle, Son was seen having a chat with Eriksen and the Danish midfielder jokingly pulled his former teammate’s ear in what was a lovely embrace.
With a handful of photographers and other players around them, the pair stood near the halfway line and chatted for a while before making their way into the dressing room.
Son and Eriksen spearheaded Pochettino’s Tottenham
Pochettino’s Tottenham side remain one of the best sides in recent years to not win the Premier League.
Son and Eriksen were both key players for the Argentine, with Dele Harry and Harry Kane also playing important roles for the club during that period.
Eriksen left Tottenham in 2020 to join Inter Milan, after which he had a brief stint with Brentford before joining Manchester United on a free transfer.
Son, on the other hand, has been with the club since 2015 and remains one of their most important players under Postecoglou.
Manchester United are considering a move for Son after Ruben Amorim’s arrival, but Spurs have an option to extend his deal until 2026, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2025.
