This month of December 2024 is marked by very changeable weather in France. While the country is facing several snowfalls in the mountains, the anticyclone will change the situation on December 24 and 25.
Calm time. This is what awaits the French at Christmas. According to information from TF1, the return of the anticyclone to the country will allow the mercury to rise again, leading to the onset of mild weather without precipitation from December 24.
However, the sun will not be present everywhere since the Atlantic coast as well as the eastern borders will be faced with gray weather. Only the Mediterranean border will benefit from the sun, thanks to the mistral and the tramontane. Temperature-wise, the afternoon highs will be between 3°C and 14°C. In the evening, they are expected to be contrasting with the presence of frost in several departments such as Alsace, the Alps and Auvergne. Amazing fact: in Brittany, it will be over 10°C.
Same observation on December 25
When the gifts were opened, nothing new to report. The high pressure will not move, which will still cause calm and dry weather. The sky will still be cloudy above the northern half, while the sun will begin to shine in the South-West and the Jura. The temperatures will still be contradictory: frosts in the East will be recorded and the thermometer will approach 3°C, while the South Mediterranean will see temperatures varying between 10°C and 14°C.
For the fourteenth consecutive year, France will go without snow for Christmas.
