We are delighted to announce that Tomás Cosgrove has become the latest player to sign a long-term contract extension at Inver Park.
Having joined from Cliftonville in the summer of 2018, Cosgrove is the club’s current longest serving player and has played a pivotal role in a golden area of success at Inver Park.
During this period of success, the 32-year-old defender has helped the Invermen secure promotion as winners of the 2018/19 Bluefin Sport Championship, four successive County Antrim Shield titles, back-to-back Sports Direct Premiership titles and a historic UEFA Conference League – League Phase qualification.
Alongside a trophy-laden period as a team, Cosgrove’s individual contributes include two Co. Antrim Shield final winning goals and captaincy during our first-ever Gibson Cup winning league campaign.
Taking the title as the club’s most decorated player of the modern era, Cosgrove’s extension has delighted Head of Football Nathan Rooney, who said:
“I’m really pleased that Tomás has agreed to extend his current contract to ensure that his long-term future will be at Inver Park.
“Tomás has been here for seven years and is someone who knows the club and the town inside out. Alongside being a fantastic talent on the pitch, he is a popular figure in the dressing room and amongst the fanbase and wider community.
“As a player, he has enjoyed plenty of success to date but I have been impressed by his hunger for more trophies, which is the mentality we demand amongst our playing personnel.”
Discussing his new deal, Cosgrove added:
“Larne has become my home over the past seven years, so it’s great to extend my stay here with the club and in the town.
“We’ve enjoyed so many happy memories as a club but I believe the best is yet to come under Gary and Nathan’s leadership.
“I feel as a player I still have so much to offer the group and I’ll continue to work hard and give everything I can to deliver success for the town.”
