“Our goal is to make beautiful memories for local children.” Respectively employees and volunteers of the club Caen South West (CSO), at the Grace of God, Aldric Lecarpentier, Léo Nogre and Steven Moubarek have a dream in mind: to take around fifty young players from the club, children from the neighborhood, to Belgium, to an international tournament at the end of the season.
Many do not have the chance to go on vacation, their parents do not always have a driving license. As soon as they leave Caen, they are happy!
520 licensees, from U7 to seniors
Founded in 1989 under the name AS Grâce-de-Dieu, the club chaired since 2003 by Wilfrid Evrin today has 520 members, with teams in all categoriesfrom U7 to seniors, including women's and the leisure section. “We make it a point of honor to preserve affordable license pricesfrom €85 to €100, insists Steven Mobarek. Parents can pay in installments.
In this popular area of the city, the club strives to propose activities children, and participate in social life. At the start of each school year, educators from the club intervene in schools in the area. Recently, young graduates were able to watch a Champions League match at the socio-cultural center, in the company of Patrice Garandethe former coach of SM Caen. During the Christmas holidays, the U18s will participate in a futsal tournament in Agon-Coutainville. Last season, the U15s played a tournament in Germany. “They were able to visit the Borussia Dortmund store,” remembers Léo Nogre, who accompanied them. They also exchanged with German and Dutch teams…”
Activities to finance the project
This time, it is in Belgium that CSO would like to take its young U11, U12, U13, U15 and U18. Around fifty players in total. But such a project comes at a cost. “Around 6,000 euros, including 3,600 for transport,” calculated Steven Mobarek.
To raise this sum, the volunteer opened a refreshment bar since the start of the season, at each senior home match at the Caen Sud stadium. In January, the club organizes a Laser Game eveningall profits from which will be used to finance the trip to Wallonia. Same thing in February, with a tournament of five at the Stadium, in Épron.
We are looking for partners who would like to help us. The objective is that it costs families nothing.
Memories for local children are priceless.
