In connection with the “Dionisio” depression, underway in the Gulf of Genoa, a violent wind is expected to blow around Corsica during the night of Thursday to Friday December 20. The island has therefore been placed on orange alert, by Météo-France services, from 2 a.m. this Friday and until 2 p.m., at least.
180 km/h on Cap Corse
Gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are expected to blow over a large part of the island, 120 to 140 km/h are expected in Balagne and 180 km/h on Cap Corse. The wind is expected to turn to the north-northwest on Friday December 20, 2024 at daybreak, with violent gusts close to 100 to 120 km/h sweeping all coastal areas, usually little affected. At the beginning of the afternoon and especially in the evening, conditions should return to normal.
Corsica has also been placed on yellow alert for thunderstorms, snow-ice and waves-submersion, tomorrow Friday December 20.
