Cyclone in Mayotte: the Order stands alongside the victims
The Order of Physicians expresses its full solidarity with the population and health professionals of Mahor, and is mobilizing to provide them with its support, in particular through ordinal mutual assistance.
On Saturday, December 14, the Mayotte archipelago was hit hard by the passage of Cyclone Chido, responsible for an unprecedented disaster. The number of victims is still uncertain to this day, but the toll is already very heavy. Considerable material damage has been reported, undermining public, administrative and health services.
The situation of the healthcare system in Mayotte is “very degraded, with a hospital which has been badly damaged and medical centers which are also inoperable”, declared Monday the Minister of Health, Geneviève Darrieussecq. A field hospital is being deployed, and 800 people are expected to provide reinforcements during the week, including 210 medical personnel. Public Health France launched a call for reinforcements from the health reserve.
The Order of Physicians will immediately request its resources and its support service so that doctors can find all the necessary psychological comfort and financial assistance. Support can be reached on 0800 288 038.
The Order of Physicians will also promote the health commitment of doctors from Reunion and mainland France to the aid of the population of Mayotte and Mahorais health professionals. Reception arrangements for medical assistant trainees
Doctors have the possibility of welcoming a medical assistant trainee. For those who wish to do so, an internship agreement will be established with the latter’s accredited training organization. During the internship, the role of the trainee medical assistant must remain passive and his presence in consultation must be validated by the patients, in accordance with article L.1111-4 of the public health code. It is important to note that as a preamble to the internship, the trainee will have completed a module dedicated to medical confidentiality as part of their training, as well as an introduction to medical software and first aid, thus ensuring the preparation of the participants. Furthermore, it is mandatory that the trainee has civil liability insurance to cover possible damage during the internship. The hosting doctor is also required to inform his insurance company to check the guarantees offered in the event of damage caused by the trainee.

Illegal therapy in the treatment of cancer: three companies sanctioned

Dendritic cell therapy used in the treatment of cancer meets the definition of a drug but has not been subject to marketing authorization in France or Europe.
