On Wednesday December 18, Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to one year in prison and placed under an electronic bracelet in the Bismuth affair. Following this court decision, his son-in-law Aurélien Enthoven gave him his support on social networks.
A close-knit family. This Wednesday, December 18, the Court of Cassation confirmed the conviction of Nicolas Sarkozy, pronounced in 2021, to one year in prison under an electronic bracelet for corruption and influence peddling in the “Bismuth” wiretapping affair. For three years now, the former President of the Republic hoped that his appeal would be approved, as reported Le Figaro . An unprecedented sentence for a former French head of state. In a press release published on his Instagram account, a few hours after the announcement, he proclaimed his “innocence” and pointed the finger at a “profound injustice”. “My determination is total on this issue as on the others. The truth will ultimately triumph. At that time, everyone will have to answer to the French”he wrote, specifying that he had filed an appeal “before the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights, editor’s note)”.
Faced with this new hard blow, Nicolas Sarkozy was able to count on the presence of his loved ones. His wife Carla Bruni, who has constantly defended him for twelve years, immediately relayed his speech on her Instagram account. An initiative which was also taken by his son Aurélien, born from his past relationship with the philosopher Raphaël Enthoven. For the duration of a story, the 23-year-old young man posted his father-in-law’s message on a black background. Strong support which says a lot about the complicity between the two men. If Aurélien is a shoulder on which Nicolas Sarkzoy, it is the same for his son Jean Sarkozy. In reaction to this court decision, he revealed a photo of his father hugging him when he was a little boy, with this caption: “What I see.” Priceless testimonies of love for the 69-year-old former tenant of the Élysée who will soon be summoned before a sentencing judge, to determine the terms of his electronic bracelet.
