Storm Dionisio is coming. Corsica-du-Sud and Haute-Corse will go into orange “wind” vigilance during the night of Thursday December 19 to Friday December 20, from 2 a.m., Météo-France announced on Thursday, in anticipation of a “violent gale” expected on the island. The alert should be maintained until 2 p.m. Friday, according to the public body.
“The westerly wind strengthens significantly in the second part of the night from Thursday to Friday, blowing in gusts at 90/100 km/h over a large part of the island, 120 to 140 km/h in Balagne and on the ridges , locally 180 km/h towards Cap Corse”specifies Météo-France in its bulletin. “The wind then turns to the north to northwest on Friday at daybreak, with violent gusts close to 100/120 km/h, sweeping all the coastal towns, a fairly unusual situation. The wind will gradually ease on Friday afternoon and will disappear in the evening.”
