VIDEO – The series Zorro will be broadcast on France 2 from December 23. This Wednesday, December 18, Jean Dujardin was the guest of C to you on France 5 and took the opportunity to reveal behind the scenes of his arrival on the project.
Playing Zorro was a childhood dream for Jean Dujardin. He achieved it by playing the masked hero in the comedy series by Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré. Available on the Paramount+ platform since September, it will now be broadcast unencrypted on France 2 from December 23. This Wednesday, December 18, the French actor was invited on C to you to promote the arrival of the series on France Télévisions. Regarding this role of Zorro on the return, the father of two admits that he “hoped[t]” for a long time: “It was something we threw around a bit like that. We don’t take any risks by saying I want to do Zorro because we know it will never come.”
However, he did indeed have the chance to play it thanks to… his brother! Indeed, the Oscar-winning actor explained that Marc Dujardin, who is a producer, was behind the scenes of the project: “One day, there’s a guy who calls you, in this case it’s your brother, and says: ‘we can do it’. There, he sets everything in motion with Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré.” Jean Dujardin also admitted that he was “a little obsessive” concerning Zorro, since he had fun pretending to be him when he was a child. Nathalie Péchalat’s husband admitted that he even received the hero’s costume eight times and he should “Normally” have it again for this Christmas.
“I thought I would hurt myself a little more” : Jean Dujardin reveals behind the scenes of Zorro
For this role of Zorro, Jean Dujardin had to put his all into it between the combat scenes and those on horseback. Even the 52-year-old actor didn’t think he could achieve everything and yet, he surpassed himself, as he declared on Europe 1 last September. “I was thinking in sh** more”he joked. “I’m not saying it wasn’t challenging […] but on the action scenes, I thought I would hurt a little more because I’m 52 years old. We’re not grandpa, that’s fine!”he assumes. To achieve it, Jean Dujardin explained that he “you need to sleep well, drink water, do stretches” and admits that we must do “be careful of everything”.
