After Tom Waes and Ruben Van Gucht, Zita Wauters (20) is now also in the spotlight. The ambassador of De Warmste Week was convicted on Wednesday by the Bruges police judge for driving under the influence. She had a blood alcohol content of 0.74 per mille, the news agency reports Belgian.
Ten days’ driving ban and a fine of 480 euros. That is the sentence that the police judge in Bruges imposed on Zita Wauters, the 20-year-old screen face who currently acts as ambassador of De Warmste Week. The facts took place some time ago: on June 23, Wauters passed the police station at an inappropriate speed. During the subsequent check, she gave a positive breath test. It involved an alcohol intoxication of 0.74 per mille and it also turned out that her vehicle had not been validly inspected, the news agency reports. Belgian.
On Wednesday morning, the police judge convicted Koen Wauters’ daughter for driving under the influence and at an inappropriate speed. A fine of 80 euros was imposed for the expired inspection. The defense did not dispute the facts, but did try to obtain a suspension of sentence.

“The government’s many awareness campaigns have repeatedly alerted the population to the danger of driving under the influence, but apparently the defendant has not learned any lessons from this,” the judgment said. In addition, it was noted that the defendant had a driver’s license for less than two years, which means that one of the driving tests is mandatory. The police judge ruled that Wauters must retake her practical driving test. “The defendant clearly does not yet have the ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.”
VRT reports that there will not be a separate response to the case, but that the same applies to Wauters as to Tom Waes and Ruben Van Gucht. Those screen faces also got behind the wheel with one glass too many. Tom Waes almost paid for that with his life. The VRT responded that all screen faces are expected to fulfill an “exemplary function” and that internal “discussions” will be initiated.
Both Waes and Van Gucht still have to answer before the police court. Van Gucht was stopped by a police patrol on the night of last Friday to Saturday, exactly two weeks after the life-threatening accident with Tom Waes. After that accident, the Traffic Institute (Vias) responded that eleven accidents occur every day involving a drunk driver in which at least one person is injured or killed. On average, tests indicate 1.7 permille, or eight to ten pints.
