INTERVIEW – The president of the UDR assures that he will have “no reluctance” to vote for censorship once again if the government of François Bayrou does not undertake “courageous” reforms on the state and the economy.
LE FIGARO .- You are received by François Bayrou at Matignon on Wednesday. Are you more open towards him than you were towards Michel Barnier?
ERIC CIOTTI .- I know and respect both men, but I remain skeptical of improbable alliances worthy of the Fourth Republic, mixing socialists, certain LR elected officials and Macronists. This does not inspire stability, clarity, or confidence. However, I will judge on actions. We are coming out of a budget which reached 40 billion euros in taxes and which made no real structural savings! The protection of French people, businesses and households from the tax burden will be our course of action. It's up to the government not to move away from it.
