INTERVIEW – Christelle Morançais (Horizons) agrees to want to reduce community spending, in particular by reducing subsidies to associations.
LE FIGARO. – You have decided to save money 100 million euros . Since then, the government has fallen. Are you staying the course?
CHRISTELLE MORANÇAIS. – Yes. Even if the government fell, the debt did not go away with Michel Barnier. The country is in bad shape. The debt peaks at 3,300 billion euros, we borrow at the Greek rate, unemployment is rising, the economic outlook is bad. Saving money on operations is a moral duty that we owe to our children. It is also the only way to anticipate the consequences of the coming crisis.
Were there no other levers?
The main trend in France has always been, to reduce the debt, to raise taxes. I refuse to do so. We are the country with the most taxes and the most taxes. We really need to make fundamental reforms in the economies.
