More than fifteen days later the dismissal of Ahmed Kantarithe VAFC has (finally) found its new coach. Following numerous refusals, the northern club finally set its sights on Vincent Hognonfree since his departure from last spring.

The VAFC press release:

The VAFC is proud to announce the appointment of Vincent Hognon as head coach of the first team. This demanding 50-year-old technician will be responsible for redressing the club's sporting situation in the National Championship. With his experience of 174 matches managed in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, Vincent Hognon knows perfectly the ingredients necessary for a team to perform well and regain confidence.

French Ligue 2 champion with in 2019

A former central defender who played for , Saint-Etienne and , the new VAFC coach began his first coaching experience in 2017 on the Nancy bench before joining Metz the following season. At the head of the Grenats, he succeeded in bringing the club back into the elite in May 2019, winning the Ligue 2 championship title.

After keeping Metz in Ligue 1 in 2020, Vincent Hognon joined the Luxembourg club FC Swift then signed at the end of December 2021 with the Grenoble Foot 38 club, which he maintained for two seasons in a row in Ligue 2.

Free from any contract since his experience in Grenoble, the technician decided to join the VAFC. The entire club welcomes Vincent Hognon and sends him its best wishes for success at the head of the first team.
