Several drone sightings on the east coast of the USA have been causing unrest for days. The government is appeasing – and now wants to provide more resources for the police.

For days there have been reports and discussions about possible drones in the skies of the US East Coast. Videos of the mysterious bright lights in the sky are spreading rapidly on social media, sparking heated speculation.

“There is no question that people see drones,” emphasized Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in a interview. Some of the reported sightings are indeed drones, but others are manned aircraft, which are often mistaken for drones. “I want to reassure the American public that we are on this,” Mayorkas said.

No evidence of “foreign involvement”

“Thousands of drones are flown every day in the United States, both recreational and commercial drones,” the minister continued. Drones have been flying at night for some time now.” This could be one of the reasons why people see more drones today than before, especially at dawn and dusk.”

President Joe Biden’s administration says it has made additional resources available. Additional personnel and technology have been mobilized to support the police in New Jersey, Mayorkas said. Nevertheless, he emphasized that there was no evidence of “foreign involvement” in the sightings in the northeastern United States.

Senator calls for law on drone reconnaissance

However, the US authorities have not yet provided any information about the origin of the suspected drones. The government of President Joe Biden is increasingly being criticized for this.

This also comes from Biden’s own party: Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer yesterday called for a law to improve cooperation between federal, state and local authorities in identifying and, if necessary, “shooting down” dangerous drones.

In a letter to Mayorkas, Schumer also called on the Department of Homeland Security to immediately deploy drone detection technology in New York and New Jersey because traditional radars cannot detect such small objects well.

Lack of information leads to Conspiracy theories

Representative Jim Himes, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee for the Democrats, also criticized the information policy of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). “The answer ‘We don’t know’ is not a sufficient answer,” he said on Fox News. “When people are unsettled, they fill the vacuum with fears, worries and conspiracy theories,” warned Himes.

The mysterious phenomenon began in November over New Jersey when an unmanned flying object was spotted near a military facility.
