After several Drone sightings in the US state of New Jersey and other states on the east coast, there is still great confusion among the population.

There have been reports and discussions about possible drones in the sky for days. “We know that New Yorkers have spotted drones in the air this week and we are investigating,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul. “There is currently no evidence that these drones pose a threat to public or national security.”

According to consistent media reports, the mysterious phenomenon began in November over the neighboring state of New Jersey, when an unmanned flying object was spotted near a military facility. As a result, more and more cases became known in large parts of the state, most recently in the New York boroughs of the Bronx, Staten Island and near LaGuardia Airport in Queens.

Government should take action

Now several government representatives are calling for measures to put an end to the mysterious flights. Outgoing Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday called on the US Department of the Interior to use better technology to identify the drones and their operators. “New Yorkers have significant questions about this,” Schumer said. “We will find the answers for you.”

Schumer demanded that the federal government use recently released radio wave technology in its investigation. According to the information, a radio wave detector can be attached to a drone, which determines whether another flying object is actually a drone, reads its electronic registration and traces it back to its landing site. Schumer said authorities do not have the authority to track drones, however.

Hochul said Sunday that federal officials would send a drone detection system to the state to be used in the investigation. The governor initially did not provide any further details.

“Many of us are pretty frustrated at the moment.”

The government also did not provide the population with clear answers on Sunday morning. “There’s no question that people see drones,” said US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas in an interview with ABC . “But I want to reassure the American public that we are on this.”

“A lot of us are pretty frustrated right now,” said Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, on “Fox News Sunday.” “‘We don’t know’ is not a good answer,” he said.
