Rumba la vie, Franck Dubosc's second production, is broadcast this evening on TMC. The opportunity to take stock of the projects of the French actor and director.
Screened since November 20 in Prodigieuses by Frédéric and Valentin Potier, Franck Dubosc will soon return with his third feature film as director with Un Ours dans le Jura.
A third film as director
Scheduled in our cinemas on January 1, the film marks a turning point in the filmmaker's career. A Bear in the Jura is in fact not a pure comedy but rather a dark humor thriller in the worthy tradition of Fargo.
In an interview given to France 3 Franche-Comté last March on the shooting of the film, Franck Dubosc described his third production as a serious comedy. The filmmaker explained: “I wanted to change the genre a little. To be in a genre with still comedy, but a little darker, more in the humor of the Coen brothers, like Fargo… All these films where we laugh , but on a first level, with characters very anchored in reality. I didn't want a funny comedy, but a serious comedy, a serious comic.
Carried by Laure Calamy, Franck Dubosc, Benoît Poelvoorde, Joséphine de Meaux and Kim Higelin, the feature film shot in Haut-Jura takes place in December. Michel and Cathy, a couple worn down by time and financial difficulties, no longer really speak to each other. Until the day when Michel, to avoid a bear on the road, hits a car and kills the two occupants. 2 deaths and 2 million in used notes in the safe, obviously it makes you want to talk again. And above all to keep quiet. A Bear in the Jura is released in theaters on January 1, 2025.
A few months later, Franck Dubosc will be in the casting of Fabrice Eboué's new comedy, Gérald the Conqueror. In this comedy announced in our theaters on April 30, Gérald (Eboué) aims to restore the image of his region of heart, Normandy. His method: build the largest amusement park in the country, to the glory of William the Conqueror. And to achieve this, he is ready to go far, very far…
“Classifieds” soon back?
Finally, during the promotion of Ducobu goes green, Elie Semoun told Leisure TV his desire to relaunch the pastille which allowed him to become known to the general public.
“If Franck tells me yes, I’ll do it tomorrow”explained the actor. “But really. It's whenever he wants. I have lots of ideas, but I can't do them without him. I could resurrect Miqueline, Rodriguez, and there are so many idiots in society, stupid associations, people who complain about everything, people who complain, who want to assert themselves, who want to exist, there are what to do, it’s hilarious!”
Then, invited in The Big Weekthe new M6 show, Elie Semoun was questioned by Ophélie Meunier about the return of Classifieds. The actor then responded that he was still waiting for validation from his friend to make an official announcement.
He then called Franck Dubosc directly and handed the phone to Ophélie Meunier. “Franck, we have an official request from the entire La Grande Semaine gang”she explained.
“We are with Élie Semoun, who is our first guest, and obviously we remember your highlights in Les Petites Announcements. And we really officially want to ask you to help relaunch this phenomenon, would you tell us yes?”, she then asked Franck Dubosc. After a few seconds of suspense, the actor then replied: “I want to say yes!”
It now remains to be seen what the terms of this return will be. Are they going to do a special evening as was the case for Les Inconnus or are they really going to relaunch the pastille on a regular basis?
Stopped at the end of the 2000s, Classifieds of Elie was the subject of a reboot in 2015 on C8, then a special evening on W9 in 2017. In 2020, Elie Semoun and Franck Dubosc had already met for a sketch in Friday, anything goes.
