Ruben Amorim switched his frustration to delight during Manchester United’s brilliant late win away to Manchester City in the derby.
Although, before a ball was kicked, Amorim captivated attention by his decision to leave two big Man United names at home, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.
And whilst most United fans seem to trust Amorim’s judgement based on what he’s seen behind the scenes, the decision did leave the visitors short on options from the bench.
Of course, Rasmus Hojlund was installed as United’s number nine, something which could become a fixture under Amorim.
Perhaps there are some similarities between Hojlund and Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting CP, and the Dane will certainly welcome Amorim inspiring similar form.
Darren Fletcher didn’t seem happy with Kyle Walker during Manchester derby
That being said, Hojlund was actually involved in an altercation with Man City captain Kyle Walker in the first half of the derby.
Walker fouled Hojlund and Anthony Taylor swiftly awarded a dangerous free-kick to the away team.

However, Hojlund still wasn’t happy and started his complaints in the direction of Walker.
The two then made contact with their heads, and whilst no headbutting was involved, the experienced City defender then threw himself to the floor, a delayed reaction to say the least.
A spat ensued and both then received yellow cards, a forgetful moment for the duo, even if it was slightly more embarrassing for Walker on reflection.
And judging by what journalist Samuel Luckhurst shared on X at half-time, former United player and current coach Darren Fletcher wasn’t happy with what he saw.
The journalist posted saying that Fletcher was seen having words with Walker down the tunnel – presumably reminding him of his responsibilities as a senior player.
Luckhurst said: “Darren Fletcher and Kyle Walker having words in the tunnel at half-time.”
Amad Diallo proves his worth for Ruben Amorim
Aside from Hojlund’s incident with Walker, he did put in a strong shift at the Etihad, even if his performances still lack a little bit of finesse.
But there was certainly nothing lacking about Diallo’s display, who was an inspiration for Amorim in his first derby.
Admittedly, the winger did look a little tentative in the first half but he burst into life in the second.
A derby-winning-performance, and one that United fans won’t forget quickly.
That being said, Mason Mount’s latest injury will be a concern upon reflection, a player who is simply enjoying no luck right now.
