The Hollywood Star’s Secret Artistic Side

Lucy Liu, the iconic actress known for roles in Charlie’s Angels and Kill Billhas a hidden talent that’s as captivating as her on-screen performances: she’s a talented visual artist.

As Liu herself admitted, she believes her art won’t be fully appreciated until after her death: “My work will probably not be received well, until probably postmortem. Because they want to see me in this particular category and in that category only. And so it’s a little bit of a struggle.”

Liu’s artistic journey began in her youth, with her first exhibition in 1993. Her work often explores themes of identity, belonging, and the environment. She’s known for her unique style, blending various mediums like painting, sculpture, and found objects.

“When I see something on the ground, I always feel badly for those items because they feel like they once had a purpose, once had a home, and they were no longer being utilised, they were disregarded,” Liu explained. “Something about that resonates with me.”

Her art has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums around the world, and her pieces can fetch prices upwards of $70,000. Despite her success as an actress, Liu remains passionate about her art, using it as a way to express herself and connect with others.
