“Malcolm in the Middle” is coming back — over two decades after the beloved sitcom first aired.
A four-episode revival of the beloved series has been ordered by Disney+, with stars Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek set to reprise their roles.
The Emmy Award-winning series — which ran for seven seasons started in 2000 and ended in 2006 — depicted Malcolm, played by Muniz, dealing with life as a middle child with a genius I.Q.
In the show’s revival, Malcolm will be thrown back into his zany family’s chaos when Hal (played by Cranston) and Lois (played by Kaczmarek) demand their son and his daughters attend their 40th wedding anniversary party, per a Disney statement.
“I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years. Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now,” Muniz said in a video message accompanying the announcement.
The original series’ creator Linwood Boomer will also craft the four new episodes.
Disney didn’t reveal when the new show will air.
“With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a statement.
