Liverpool’s dazzling forward, Mohamed Salah, has reached yet another remarkable milestone in his illustrious career, providing a stunning assist during Saturday’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Fulham at Anfield.

The Egyptian star has been embroiled in a lengthy contract saga since the season began, yet he has resolutely maintained his high level of performance, undeterred by off-field distractions.

Salah was eyeing an eighth consecutive Premier League goal this weekend, but his ambitions took a hit early on. Fulham’s Andreas Pereira opened the scoring with a brilliant strike, sending Liverpool into disarray when Andy Robertson received a straight red card for a last-man foul on former player Harry Wilson.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Liverpool managed to create chances to equalise. Right after the break, Salah delivered a moment of sheer brilliance, showcasing his playmaking skills.

The 32-year-old, stationed in the right half-space just outside the Fulham area, delivered an incredible inswinging cross to the far post, perfectly setting up Cody Gakpo to finish clinically.

With this assist, Salah celebrated his 100th assist for the club across all competitions, achieving this milestone in just over seven years since his move from Roma in 2017.

During this impressive period, only three players in Europe’s top five leagues have surpassed Salah’s assist tally: Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (132), Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller (118), and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (108).

Notably, 13 of Salah’s 100 assists have come this season, and he has also netted 16 goals across all competitions, helping Liverpool maintain their position at the top of both domestic and European football.

Despite the draw, Liverpool increased their lead at the Premier League summit to five points, as Arsenal failed to capitalise after drawing with Everton.

Salah’s contract situation has been a topic of discussion this season, with him hinting that the 2024-25 campaign might be his final one in a Liverpool shirt. However, these comments appear more as a plea to the club rather than a desire to depart, as rumors suggest Liverpool may finally be ready to discuss a contract renewal.

Many fans are urging the club to offer Salah a lucrative contract, considering his age—turning 33 next year—raises concerns about his future performance levels. Still, Salah’s dedication to fitness and form remains exceptional, showcasing his unwavering commitment even amidst contract uncertainties.

While every new contract comes with its risks, allowing Salah to leave for free in 2025 is not an option Liverpool can even contemplate.
