Trailing twice, AJ Auxerre was able to come back to score a draw against Lens (2-2). The two teams remain at the gates of European places.
A week after scoring a draw on home soil against Paris Saint-Germain (0-0), AJ Auxerre reunited with its supporters this Saturday, on the occasion of the 15th day of Ligue 1, the last at home during this year 2024. In a rather rhythmic first act but without opportunities on the part of the two teams, we had to wait until the twentieth minute to witness the opening of the score in this part. Taking advantage of superb work from Labeau Lascary on the right side, the latter crossed back in favor of El Aynaoui who deceived Léon with a shot from the right (0-1, 21st). Despite this advantage in the score, Lens struggled to make the break and was surprised by the magnificent inspiration of Perrin, author of a direct free kick to put the two teams equal at the half-hour mark (1-1 , 30th).
Auxerre cracks before the break but shows character
During a lively first period, Lens decided not to return to the locker room with this draw. Taking advantage of an alignment error from Osho, Nzola went to deceive Léon very easily in order to give his team the advantage just before the break (1-2, 44th). In the second period, AJA was more enterprising. While she thought she had obtained a penalty in the 65th minute after an intervention by Khusanov on Joly, the latter was ultimately canceled, the referee considering that Joly, penalized on the spot, had simulated. Finally, Auxerre was able to return to equality through Osho, at fault on Lensois' second goal, in order to secure a draw in this game (2-2, 73rd). After the draw obtained against PSG, Auxerre obtains a new sharing of points against a club with European ambition at the end of the season and remains in 8th place. For its part, Lens will not follow up with a third success in a row just before the break and remains stuck in 6th place, 3 points behind Lille, 4th.
