While four Norwegians finished in the Top 5 of the Hochfilzen sprint, Fabien Claude managed to climb into third position, landing the fourth individual podium of his career.

Like Sophie Chauveau among the women, it was not the most anticipated Frenchman who managed to get on the podium in the Hochfilzen sprint! While Emilien Jacquelin and Eric Perrot, respective winners last week of the sprint and the mass start of Kontiolahti, could have had great ambitions, it was Fabien Claude who came out on top! A few days before his 30th birthday, the Vosges native finished third in the Austrian race, among the Norwegians, who occupy four places in the Top 5. This is his fourth World Cup podium in an individual race. Author of a flawless shooting, he managed to resist Endre Stromsheim, who finished six hundredths behind him.

A promising pursuit!

After the first shot, Fabien Claude was in seventh place, ten seconds behind Sebastian Samuelsson, then third place after the third shot, seven and a half seconds behind Sturla Laegreid and four hundredths behind Johannes Boe. The winner of the last World Cup managed to overtake his compatriot in the last kilometers to win and take the lead in the general classification. Fabien Claude finished seven seconds behind Boe and two behind Laegreid. This promises a chase full of suspense on Saturday! The first ten are held in 41 seconds, but apart from Claude, no other Frenchman is there. World Cup leader Eric Perrot could not do better than 13th, just ahead of Emilien Jacquelin, while Quentin Fillon Maillet completely missed the shot, committing four errors.
