The Seven Mercenaries : the John Sturges film revisited
The genesis of the film finds its roots in 2010 when producer Roger Birnbaum had the idea of revisiting the cult film by John Sturges in order to rewrite it with a slightly more modern story. “At that time, there were few films in development, so we had to start from scratch. We were browsing the superb MGM catalog and suddenly, I came across The Seven Mercenaries, a film that I had loved as a child, and also later during my film studies when I had learned the story of the adaptation from the film The Seven Samurai. It's a classic, and I thought it was worth re-adapting.”confided Roger Birnbaum in an interview. The 7 mercenaries are therefore inspired by the original film by John Sturges but especially by the film The seven samurai.

To prepare for his role as Sam Chislom, Denzel Washington prepared for many months, before filming, as reported Allocinated.
