The month of November is, every year, an opportunity to raise awareness of male cancers and raise funds for research. And, every year, the team of barber Laurent Briard gives everything. This year, members raised 22,040, placing them in second position in the world rankings.

How long have you been involved with Movember?

I've been doing it in for 13 years. 10 years seriously, and 6 years almost professionally! In the Cannes team, there were 72 mustachioed this year. It started on November 1st, when I opened a public holiday to make a mustache for anyone who wanted it, for free. Then I groomed their mustache for free for the entire month of November, and bought them a glass of champagne at the end. In return, they invested in raising funds for the foundation.

In what way?

I don't like asking people for money, so we held events in return for which they could make a donation. We were able to organize nine events with the help of the municipality. We organized jogging for mustachioed people, we did prevention with the urology department of Cannes hospital, in a pub. No need to open the hospital door, people had access to doctors in complete relaxation over a drink. But also more visual things, like a car wash. I try to diversify the events to reach as many people as possible. And each time, we ask for voluntary participation.

And this year, you came second in the national rankings!

I'm still quite proud. It's not that easy to raise more than 20,000 euros in 30 days. You have to invest yourself to be able to do it. We've been second six times. In 2022, we managed to come 1st. But we are fighting against one of the biggest French teams, and there are still 3,700 teams in , including large groups (Lamborghini or Google, for example). I am proud of my team, proud of these people who invested. I may be the driving force, the captain of the team, but without those I call my Mo Bros, I wouldn't make it. It's the synergy between them

who makes it work. There is a commitment from traders, people who gravitate around me.
