The home side had slightly more of the ball and created 14 chances to Lazio’s eight.

But it was the visitors who scored first when Loum Tchaouna was put through one-on-one with the keeper by Pedro in the 12th minute.

Ajax equalised less than two minutes into the second half. Bertrand Traoré smashed the ball into the top corner after a goal line clearance fell into his path.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru put Lazio back ahead five minutes later when he met Mattia Zaccagni’s cross at the back post. The shot looked to have been saved, but goal line technology intervened to confirm Lazio’s second.

Pedro sealed the points for Lazio in the 77th minute with a classy individual finish following phenomenal teamplay.

Nuno Tavares, on loan from arsenal, burst through the Ajax press from left back deep into the Dutch side’s half before playing in Tchaouna, who flicked it behind him to Pedro.

Pedro took a touch before shooting into the far post with his left foot from 25 yards out.

Lazio play Real Sociedad at home and Braga away in their last two games.
