“When you’re working on a tight deadline” — Memes take over the internet as ChatGPT faces major global outage

With the world’s shift toward Artificial Intelligence, people have become more dependent on these tools and ChatGPT’s recent outage got them reacting to it widely. The AI tool is among the most prominent ones and is used by hundreds of millions of active users per month. The outage led to a meme fest on X (formerly Twitter).

The AI tool is used to create a detailed human-like conversation in response to a prompt. It helps users to refine a conversation to a desired format, length, and style. Besides text, the tool is also used to create images with the help of the details provided to it.

As the AI bot faced a significant outage, OpenAI, the company behind it, addressed the issue and promised users to keep them updated. They wrote,

“We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we’ll keep you updated!”

While they aimed at informing the users about the issue, it sparked a surge of memes.

An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote,

“When you’re working on a tight deadline, and #ChatGPT is down … What’s going on @OpenAI huh?”

Another one added a funny GIF and penned,

“#ChatGPT is down. Looks like everyone will have to finish their assignments the old fashioned way.”

One also wrote,

“Hate that I was immediately aware of this outage due to using Chat GPT 24 hours a day.”

A fourth one shared their troubles and wrote,

“It’s finals week and #ChatGPT isn’t working.”

An X user quipped,

“Coders who use #chatGPT to write their codes rn.”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman addresses ChatGPT outage

Sam Altman, as always, addressed the outage and cracked some jokes via X. He wrote “we back” and mentioned how he was planning on being the mechanical Turk for the AI tool.

This is not the first time when the AI tool faced such a block in its functioning. Last month, a similar incident took place and Altman apologized to the users for their inconvenience. He informed the users that the tool went down for 30 minutes and added,

“We are much, much better at reliability than we used to be, but clearly more work in front of us. (it is now the 8th biggest website in the world according to similarweb–we have had a lot of work to do these past two years!).”

The AI tool was back to functioning and turning prompts into lengthy texts for their users. However, its millions of users took to social media to hilariously express their frustration during the outage.
