Today is set to be Largely dry and mostly cloudy today, with just limited bright spells.

A few patches of light rain or drizzle will occur later, mainly in southern and eastern areas with highest temperatures reaching three degrees in the northwest to six to seven degrees in the south and east, in light easterly or variable breezes.

The evening will remain mostly cloudy with some patches of light rain or drizzle, mainly in the east.

The national forecaster has said that some clear spells could develop in the west giving a touch of frost and some mist or fog patches with temperatures due to dip to 5 to -1 degrees with light variable breezes or calm conditions.

Friday will bring a good deal of cloud but some bright or sunny spells, too.

There will be some patchy rain and drizzle, mainly for eastern and southern counties in the morning, and then later in the day in the west and northwest.

In light variable breezes, temperatures will plateau at between four to eight degrees.

Some patches of frost or fog may appear and temperatures are due to descend to between three to 0 degrees with light to moderate west to north westerly winds developing as the weekend begins.

Saturday will be Mostly dry with spells of sunshine and just well scattered showers, mainly near northern and western coasts, Met Éireann has said.

Clouds will build from the northwest through the afternoon and evening.

Some rain or drizzle will develop in northwestern parts during the evening.

Highest temperatures of 5-9 degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes.

As the weekend comes to an end, Sunday is predicted to be mostly cloudy with a few patches of light rain and drizzle, mainly for northern and western counties.

However, the weather is expected to be wilder with temperatures rising to 10 to 12 degrees with moderate westerly winds developing, fresh at times in the west and north.

The start of the week looks to be mild and breezy with some rain and showers but still a good deal of dry weather.

Temperatures are predicted to reach between 9 and 11 degrees in moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

The rest of the week looks unsettled with rain or showers and will be windy at times.

Temperatures will be close to normal or a little on the mild side, though turning colder later in the week.
