Buts : Ramos (30e), Mendes (72e) and Gifted (85e)
With their backs to the wall, Paris finally showed itself at ease in the Champions League, taking advantage of Salzburg's great weakness to achieve a second victory in this league phase. If everything was not perfect – like the numerous scoring opportunities left along the way – the capital's players are raising their heads in the race for qualification in the play-offs. A revival that they owe in particular to a close range goal from Gonçalo Ramos, who with a little more application could have left with a hat-trick, and to the first pawn of Désiré Doué in his new colors. Now with seven points, Luis Enrique's squad is breathing again before challenging Manchester City and Stuttgart in January.
Doctor Gonçalo and Mister Ramos
A meeting which does not take long to reveal its true face: from the first moments, the Parisians confiscate the ball in the face of the astonishing local excitement. In distress this season, Salzburg is totally overwhelmed, unable to build the slightest action. Paris plays high, Bradley Barcola passes a few dribbles again, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes multiply the runs and the French champions are already chasing their first goal of the season away in the Champions League. But once again, their improbable lack of efficiency against goal played bad tricks on them: Hakimi's firecracker then Gonçalo Ramos' header were repelled by Alexander Schlager, Kang-in Lee's curling shot brushed against the goalkeeper's post Austrian and the Portuguese center forward completely misses each other, alone facing the empty goal. Another evening without the red and blue attack? Fortunately, the former Benfiquist redeemed himself by pushing a delivery from Hakimi a few moments later to finally unlock the score (0-1, 30e). The tree that hides the forests, as poorly negotiated situations follow one another, like this little dive from Barcola right next door, but the main thing is there: Paris is ahead.
Finally gifted to his advantage
Perhaps tired of accumulating failures, PSG slowed down after the break. Despite a few offensives led by Lee or Barcola, suddenly much less inspired, we had to wait almost 20 minutes before seeing the slightest strike. The work of Dorgeles Nene, symbol of a Salzburg which increasingly imagines itself taking advantage of this slack from its visitors. But remains far too limited. The first Parisian shot of the second act ends its course at the bottom, Mendes perfectly taking the delivery from Désiré Doué in the middle of the penalty area (0-2, 72e). The end of the game is an opportunity to attend two events on the Parisian side: the big return to competition of Lucas Hernandez seven months after his injury, followed in the wake of Désiré Doué's first goal for the capital club, on a new offering from Hakimi (0-3, 85e). A 100% success in front of goal quickly attenuated by a new failure from Barcola. But no matter: if adversity was not really there, Paris finally managed a successful performance on the European scene.
