Russia wants to be “taken seriously”. The Kremlin is ready to use “all means” at his disposal to defend himself, according to the interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, broadcast Thursday, December 5 by American television host Tucker Carlson. “We are sending signals and we hope that the last one, two weeks ago [en référence au tir du missile Orechnik] was taken seriously”he declared.
According to Russian authorities, this missile launch was in response to bombings carried out by kyiv in Russia using American and British missiles. While insisting that Moscow does not want to aggravate the situation and wishes “avoid any misunderstanding” with Washington and its partners, Sergei Lavrov warned that Russia will send “additional messages if they do not draw the necessary conclusions”.
“We would like to have normal relations with all our neighbors, of course, but in general with all countries and in particular with a large country like the United States”also affirmed the minister less than two months before the inauguration of American president-elect Donald Trump. “We do not see why Russia and the United States could not cooperate for the good of the universe”he added.
