Government censorship: Retailleau denounces “a melenchonization” of the RN: News

The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau denounced on Wednesday a “melenchonization” of the National Rally (RN), which will vote “a motion of censure which insults them”.

Speaking on Europe 1 and CNews, the minister said that we were “moving towards censorship” of the government during the day with the RN's vote on the motion of censure from the left.

It is a “curious alliance of the carp and the rabbit. It is a Mélenchonization of the National Rally”, continued Bruno Retailleau, for whom “it is the National Rally which brings a victory to Jean-Luc Mélenchon”. “Ms Le Pen, he insisted, gives her credit to the motion of censure” by voting for the one carried by LFI.

“It is indeed a victory that she will give to the Rebels this evening,” said the Minister of the Interior. In his eyes, the RN is thus moving “from respectabilization to melenchonization”.

“We have left the rational field for the irrational field (…). Politics requires convictions. There is nothing worse than voting against one's convictions,” criticized Bruno Retailleau.

When asked who could replace Michel Barnier at Matignon, he replied: “I don't know who can escape censorship.”

More generally, he explained that it was necessary for the right and the center to develop “a programmatic platform on which we can agree”.

Judging that “the + at the same time +” advocated by President Emmanuel Macron was “impotence”, Bruno Retailleau called for “the reconstitution of the left/right divide”. “You have to have clear ideas, either from the right or from the left (…). You have to align your deep convictions with your words and actions.”

Regarding his political future, the Minister of the Interior affirmed that he was “not being devoured by the presidential virus”. “I don’t expect anything from tomorrow.”
