The forecast for next week shows snow in the lowlands towards Monday. Will there be traffic chaos again when the snow line drops?
There will be very changeable weather this week with rain, clouds and wind. The snowfall line fluctuates up and down. On Sunday it finally goes gradually towards lower altitudes.
As the latest forecasts show, the limit will apparently remain low in the coming week: the weather services are also predicting the next snow in the lowlands for next Monday.
“Meteo Switzerland” reports for Monday (December 9th, 2024): “Probably very cloudy and a few snow showers. Maximum temperature around 3 degrees.”
Snowflakes can be seen on “SRF Meteo” when you look at the weather maps for December 9th. And not just in Zurich – as in the screenshot above – but also in Bern.
Snow enthusiasts can rejoice – there is likely to be another onset of winter. There is no information yet on exactly how much new snow will fall when the snowfall line is low. But it will be exciting to see whether there will be such chaos on the streets again as there was almost two weeks ago.
The heavy snowfall caused real traffic chaos in the city of Bern. Public transport operated by the Bern public transport operator Bernmobil came to a standstill. Tram traffic also came to a standstill in Basel. In addition, many drivers in Switzerland were still using summer tires – so there were numerous accidents.
