Remco Evenepoel was taken to hospital on the morning of Tuesday, December 3, after hitting a car while training in the town of Oetingen (Belgium). According to information from The Latest News which cites relatives of the Belgian runner from Soudal Quick-Step, the latter was taken care of by paramedics after not being able to avoid the open door of a Belgian post vehicle.

Images published on social networks show the double Olympic champion, 3rd in the last Tour de France, visibly conscious and being placed in a seated position on a stretcher. The frame of his bike was broken in two due to the violent impact.
“Remco was transferred to the Erasme hospital in Anderlecht (in the Brussels region). We're still waiting to see how he's doing. We are on our way to the hospital”declared the father of the cyclist to the daily The Latest News.

Seen last weekend in Doha on the sidelines of the Qatar F1 Grand Prix, Evenepoel (24) was back in Belgium this week to continue his preparation for the next season. His return to competition is in principle scheduled for early February.
