Good news: electricity prices will fall next year, by at least 14%. To further reduce the bill, Ademe lists 37 simple ways to reduce your bill now.
For several years now, the price of electricity continues to rise, to the great dismay of the French who are bearing the brunt of this increase. The last one dates back to February, with an increase reaching 22% for certain customers. Fortunately, the trend will soon be reversed.
A price still rising
The government has announced a fall in prices in 2025. At the same time, the competition authority is calling for the elimination of regulated prices, which are nevertheless favored by the vast majority of consumers in France. However, the state could decide to keep them a few more years, in accordance with the request of the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).
Good news, which should help limit the damage. Because at present, heating sometimes becomes very difficult for some, due to the sharp rise in prices. Fortunately, Ademe, an organization dependent in particular on the Ministry of Ecological Transition, provides some tips for saving money on your electricity bill. In a recently published document, she states no less than 37 recommendationswhich can be applied by most French people.
The organization first reminds that one of the keys to spending less is to reduce the temperature in your home. Therefore, it is recommended to do not exceed 19 degrees in living rooms when they are occupied, and to drop to 17 degrees when they are empty. An identical temperature in the rooms, during the night and when they are unoccupied. In the bathroom, it is advisable to be at 22 degrees during the shower and to limit yourself to 17 degrees the rest of the time.
According to Ademe, “ reducing heating by 1°C can result in a reduction of 7% of energy consumption “. She also advises putting the heating in frost protection mode during long absences and simply turning it down if you are away for a short period of time. But that's not all, because the Agency also gives a host of tips that are very easy to apply on a daily basis. For example, turn off the lights when you leave a roomfavor “Eco” cycles on the washing machine or even turn off the box before going to sleep.
And for the electric car?
The document from Ademe generally discusses everything that can be done to save electricity in all rooms of the house, but also outside. For example, he recommends drying laundry in the garden or installing a drip watering system. However, surprisingly enough, not once the electric car is not mentioned. However, according to a study conducted by Enedis, 88% of recharges are done at home. However, we know that this is particularly energy intensive.
But then, how can we make savings at this level? In fact, there are several solutions. The first is to opt for a suitable contract such as the Tempo subscription offered by EDF, which notably offers peak and off-peak hours. Then, it is recommended to schedule the charging of your vehicle at home during the latter, in order to benefit from slightly reduced rates. For example, with a Renault Mégane E-Tech, this method allows you to save around 290 euros per year.
Finally, if your vehicle is equipped with it, also consider using bidirectional charging, also known by the acronym V2H and V2G. This is for example the case of the Renault 5 E-Tech. This allows you to charge your electric car during off-peak hours and then use the energy stored in it to power your home during peak hours or send the energy back into the grid for the energy supplier to provide to you. redeems.
