“Here I go again for chemo”: actress Émilie Dequenne announces that her cancer has returned: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Émilie Dequenne had managed to fight him off, for a time. Suffering from a rare cancer, the Belgian actress announced that she would be in remission during the spring of 2024. According to her, she would be able to film again. Sunday December 1, 2024, she informed during the broadcast of her portrait in the show Seven to Eight, what cancer was actually gaining ground. “I saw my doctor to check the progress of the treatment, and it turns out that unfortunately it is not progressing well”she announced. “There is a part of my cancer that responds and another that does not respond, or even progresses. The part that progresses is larger than the part that shrinks”she explained. “Here I go again for the chemo that I had a little over a year ago with even a small dose in addition to something new”she added, explaining that her cancer was very rare. “It affects one to two people in a million per year worldwide.”

“Being able to shoot is the hardest part”

Facing the actress, Audrey Crespo-Mara asks her what she misses most in her previous life. “Carelessness”she replied. “Not thinking about death, health, I don't even dare to count the number of medications I take per day”, she explained. “And films, above all, being able to shoot, that’s the hardest part,” she confided. “I no longer work, for intermittent workers in the entertainment industry it’s a disaster,” she added. “At the beginning I had twenty euros a day to live on.” For the actress, it was impossible to film with the treatment. “I tire more quickly, my treatment tends to make me a little dizzy, I can be a little mentally confused sometimes, I can have difficulty concentrating, I can no longer read a book”she explained. “I had plans, but it was either aborted or postponed”, she added. Despite everything, for the actress, it is extremely important to speak of this disease. “It does me a lot of good,” she told the journalist. “It's already so heavy and difficult to live with, we feel very alone, I'm very surrounded, but in suffering there is a form of extreme solitude. I feel deep down that I need some talk so I talk about it, it's my little medicine. she added.
