The Christmas parade turned into drama last night, Saturday November 30 around 7 p.m. in Trouville-sur-Mer in Calvados. One of the tanks collapsed on passers-by. 13 people were injured, two of them seriously.
Perched on a gigantic articulated bird, a dancer performed in front of hundreds of spectators. Suddenly, the structure collapsed onto the crowd. Some rushed to try to extract the victims. In front of the Trouville casino, the metal bird no longer has anything magical about it. Its structure is completely dislocated. “People were very close to the tank, they did not necessarily respect the safety barriers”declares a witness.
Emergency services arrived immediately after the incident. 13 injuries were reported but, fortunately, none were in serious danger. “Among the victims, there is a two-year-old girl in relative emergency and a 14-year-old teenager”explains a rescuer. This morning, the mayor of Trouville defended the organizing company. An investigation is underway to try to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
