The Libertadores final between Botafogo and Atlético-MG, this Saturday (30/11), started in very hot weather. Just 29 seconds into the first half, midfielder Gregore was sent off.

Why was Gregore expelled?
The Botafogo midfielder went to share the ball with Fausto Vera, Atlético-MG midfielder, and hit the Galo athlete’s head with the sole of his boot. Vera spent several minutes lying on the floor, bleeding profusely.
Shortly after the completion of the play, Argentine referee Facundo Tello raised the straight red card. Fausto Vera was treated for four minutes to have the cut stitched and allow the game to continue.
It was Gregore’s second expulsion for Botafogo of the season. The first was in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, against Bahia, a game in which the Bahian team won 1-0 and eliminated the Rio team.

A curious fact is that the game between Atlético-MG and Botafogo for the Brasileirão, on November 20th, had two expulsions: Rubens, from Galo, took the red at 39 in the first half, while defender Barbosa, from Fogão, took the punishment at the end of the second half.
