Initial reactions and Observations:
- Jamal Musiala worked his socks off and gave Bayern a late, late goal. I’ve given him stick for not shooting for goal himself but from the all the players, he’s probably the best one of the lot today.
- This was nearly a loss for Vincent Kompany so to escape this match with a point should bring some relief, but he and the team are not off the hook for this subpar outing. Leverkusen will feast on this team in its current state.
- Some of the players had a proper ‘mare today.
- Bayern hold on to their unbeaten streak but it’s no longer all wins.

68’ — Kingsley Coman, whom I forgot to mention replaced Mathys Tel, fires off a shot but it’s saved.
63’ — Laimer is FINALLY off; Sacha Boey makes his return.
59’ — Musiala finally shoots himself and it NEARLY ends up a goal.
49’ — In a rare Bayern chance, Jamal Musiala chooses to square it to Thomas Müller. Guess what? NO GOAL! This is embarrassing.
45’ — Second half starts, Bayern will try to rescue this shambolic performance.
Halftime observations:
- Bayern are doing everything not to score a goal right now. I mean, come on: why is no one shooting? Can’t be hard to blast a ball into the net. Stop passing around too much and smash one in top corner.
- Imagine getting outcoached by Sahin, that’s a sackable offense.
- Mathys Tel, Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer, and Thomas Müller in particular have all been horrible. In fact, the whole team is so it’s pointless to single out players.
- This a diabolical showing from Bayern so far.

33’ — It’s not looking good, brev: Harry Kane hobbles off with an injury. Thomas Müller comes in his place.
27’ — Goal. Dortmund go one up through Bynoe-Gittens.
18’ — Waldemar Anton picks up a knock; he will be replaced by Niklas Süle.
12’ — Bayern get a couple chances but nothing comes from it.
2’ — Kim Min-jae somehow finds himself up front but could not get the shot off.
Kickoff! — It’s whistles out and away we gooooooo!
Lineups are out! — The lineup is close to our predicted starting XIs but Mathys Tel is handed a rare start on the wing while Konrad Laimer trots out at right-back.
Serge Gnabry has knee problems and will sit this one out, while Dortmund fielded this team:
Bayern Munich travel to the magnificent Westphalia Stadium / Signal Iduna Park to face Borussia Dortmund in this edition of The classic. The Bavarians are not exactly heavy favorites this time around, but Vincent Kompany and co are in red-hot form and will look to extend their current unbeaten streak in all competitions. Dortmund won’t be making it easy for the Reds, as the team in Yellow is unbeaten in 11 straight home games.
The Black and Yellows sits fifth in the league with a 6-1-4 record (19 points) while the Record champions maintains a six-point lead on the summit of the Bundesliga with a 9-2-0 record for 29 points, 10 ahead of their adversary today.
