En fanfare, a musical film whose plot is largely set in the North of , takes us to meet two brothers who were initially completely opposite, two endearing, funny and moving brothers.

“One of the most beautiful films of this fall”

En fanfare has been shown at numerous festivals and has had many premieres. Many Internet users have rated the film and shared their enthusiasm. Among the strong points, the humor and emotion of the film, but also the fact that it avoids clichés.

sylv17 (5 / 5): “Very moving film, seen today in , in preview with the great Benjamin Lavernhe. A film about values, illness and classical music. For me, it was a positive shock for a beautiful evening.”

Thomas P (4,5 / 5) : “Excellent film that breaks away from the cliché of the cold, stupid rich person who becomes cool in contact with a poor gruff, stupid person who knows how to live. The scenario is original. Lots of very funny moments against a dramatic background without being pathos. Very good production which allows the actors to express themselves and tell a story without being too theatrical. A success close to the quality of Intouchables. I recommend.”

Jean-Christophe M (5 / 5) : “Very good film. The different worlds, musical and social, highlighted by this touching story between two brothers is fantastic. Moving, funny, this film is delicate and very well made. To have.”

remyll (5 / 5) : “Certainly one of the most beautiful films of this fall. Benjamin Lavernhe and Pierre Lottin are moving. The pace is both sustained and the production delicate. This film is a real gem.

A film that's a little too predictable?

Among the few faults pointed out by some spectators, there is the scenario which may be a bit deja vu or too predictable.

Francois Roux01 (2,5 / 5) : “A little too tear-jerking. This film plays a lot on emotion and the final scene puts a “too” high point on a story that we like, served by very good actors. With “The Virtuosos” the Irish had made a more sober and better film in my opinion on the same theme“.

Alice025 (3,5 / 5) : “En Fanfare turns out to be a good feel-good movie, without revolutionizing the genre. The scenario remains quite predictable, but that does not prevent us from becoming attached to these two characters, apparently very different but ultimately quite close deep down. An unpretentious and musically touching French film.”

Benjamin Ty (3.5/5): “A very endearing film, it starts well: with an original staging which does not reveal too much to clarify the viewer as it goes along. Then we fall into the good feelings and clichés of the North (factory occupations, mines). A good time though, the interpretation is right.

Bart Sampson (3 /5) : “Without being bad, the “fanfare” film suffers from a certain artificiality and gives a bit of the impression of recycling stories that have already been seen. Films about brothers adopted by families from opposite backgrounds (Life is a long, quiet river), films about music (here two brothers, one of whom plays in the symphony and the other in a marching band), films on factory closures (Robert Guédiguian is in production)… As a result, we come away a little undecided even if Pierre Lottin and Benjamin Lavernhe are very good actors.”

In summary

En Fanfare is seen as a touching and moving film, with above all an excellent performance from its main actors. The mix of humor and emotion seduces. Some would have liked a film that was a little less predictable.

En Fanfare is currently in theaters.
