This Thursday, November 28 in the evening, the Aiglons will face a historic club, the Glasgow Rangers, in the Europa League (9 p.m.) at the Allianz Riviera.
A crucial issue for the people of Nice, who remain on two draws and two defeats.
The Scottish supporters are already hot. They gathered Wednesday evening in Old Nice, to sing songs to the glory of their club, who has already reached a UEFA Cup final twice (2008 and 2022). They had taken over the streets and pubs of Old Nice.
A “risky” match
There will be many visitors to the match. According to the OGC Nice website, it is even the first time that the visitor parking lot will be full this season in the European Cup in Nice.
“If the Dutch of Twente were a little less than 600, and the Spanish of Real Sociedad only 142, the Rangers supporters snatched up the 1,800 places offered in the parking lot”, indicates the club.
This match is “at risk” in terms of incidents. The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture estimates that out of the few 1,765 supporters expected, including 700 ultras, 200 “are at risk or very at risk”.
The meeting was classified at level 4, the highest, by the National Division for the Fight against Hooliganism. “The risk of serious disturbances to public order is proven,” indicates the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture.
A dozen CRS buses were therefore deployed on Wednesday evening in Old Nice. However, according to the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police (DIPN), no incidents were recorded Wednesday evening.
“Preventive security had been put in place in view of the incidents during the last meeting. Nice city center will also be secured this Thursday afternoon, as well as after the match”indicates the DIPN.
