The resurrection of Notre-Dame de Paris, financed with private funds, must be considered as a joint work. No one can appropriate it.
At the heart of a nation ruined by crises, Notre-Dame will soon shine with all its splendor on the world. Its restoration lasted five and a half years. The stone has regained its golden color, the framework has been reconstituted in oak wood, the spire has taken its place in the sky of Paris… What a feat given the extent of the devastation caused by the fire! But also what an achievement in such a short time in a country undermined by a finicky bureaucracy and excess standards!
This project is proof that nothing is impossible when unshakeable determination guides men. The cathedral, “we will rebuild it together”declared Emmanuel Macron, on the evening of April 15, 2019, in front of firefighters in action. It must be recognized that the head of state kept his bet. Not alone, of course. Under the leadership of the late General Jean-Louis Georgelin, some 1,300 architects, technicians and craftsmen worked at full speed.
