The driver of the car who was accused of fatally mowing down Antoine Alléno in 2022 was sentenced to seven years in prison, this Thursday, November 28, 2024, by the judicial court, announce BFM et Franceinfo . The motorist also faces a cancellation of his license and a ban on using it for five years.

“Increased risky behaviors”

The president of the court insisted on “risky behavior multiplied in a reckless manner” of the driver, to explain this sentence, explains Franceinfo.

On May 8, 2022, Antoine Alléno, the son of multi-starred chef Yannick Alléno, died while bringing a friend back on a scooter. Stopped at a red light, he was hit by a stolen car, which was traveling at a speed between 55 and 71 km/h. The 24-year-old young man dies from head trauma; his passenger was seriously injured.

The driver, whose license had been revoked four years earlier, then tried to flee. He is quickly arrested. Two hours after the accident, his blood tests revealed 1.56 g of alcohol per liter of blood.

The fight to include road homicide in the Penal Code

Four months after this fatal accident, Yannick Alléno founded an association in the name of his son, and has since fought for the creation of the notion of“road homicide” and its inclusion in the Penal Code.
