Death of Antoine Alléno: seven years in prison for the driver who hit the son of the starred chef

The criminal court sentenced to seven years in prison, with a deferred committal warrant, the man accused of having killed, drunk at the wheel of a high-powered car, the son of chef Yannick Alléno, Antoine Alléno, on May 8, 2022 in Paris.

During the hearing at the end of October, the prosecution requested eight years of imprisonment with a committal warrant as well as a ten-year driving ban against Franky D., 27 years old. The defendant, who was then appearing free under judicial supervision, was notably on trial for involuntary manslaughter with at least two aggravating circumstances, involuntary injuries and violent theft.

“I admit all the facts”

That evening, this man who is part of the community of travelers drove, drunk, without a license aboard an Audi RS6, a powerful sedan, at 120 km/h in the streets of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, restricted at 30. With this car, stolen a little earlier in the evening, he hit a VTC, then a taxi at a red light. He then lost control of the vehicle and hit a scooter.

The driver of the two-wheeler, Antoine Alléno, 24, and his passenger, Anisa, were ejected. The young man succumbed to his injuries, his helmet was found a few meters away. The passenger is injured. Fleeing on foot, he was quickly arrested and checked with 1.56 g/l of alcohol in his blood. “I admit all the facts” except the violence, he assured the hearing, accused by a valet of having punched him when stealing the car.

“Road homicide”

The young man was on trial alongside two other defendants, René A., 47 years old, and Sniper G., 20 years old, prosecuted for gang theft. Against them, the prosecution had respectively requested six months of imprisonment and nine months suspended sentence. “I did the irreparable,” regretted the driver, assuring that without alcohol, “this would never have” happened.

Since this tragedy, the victim's father, Yannick Alléno, has become an ardent defender of the creation of an offense of “road homicide”, a bill which was to pass a second reading in the National Assembly, before the dissolution in June. The family created the Antoine Alléno association to help those who have lost a loved one to road violence.
