Senior civil servant Martin Ajdari, 55 years old and current deputy general director of the Paris Opera, was proposed by the executive to chair the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom), media regulator in France, announced the Elysée in a press release on Thursday.
If his name is validated by the National Assembly and the Senate, Martin Ajdari, who has held leading positions in several cultural institutions and in audiovisual media, will replace Roch-Olivier Maistre, who must leave his functions on February 2, 2025. Arcom (formerly CSA) has the mission of allocating frequencies assigned to audiovisual, guaranteeing pluralism on air and supervising compliance with the obligations of platforms in line established in France.
Deputy Director General of the Paris National Opera since January 2020, Mr. Ajdari led all operational functions of the establishment (administrative and financial, commercial, etc.), and he was responsible for the implementation of his strategic plan. A graduate of ESCP and Sciences Po Paris, this enarque (class of 1995) previously held various positions within the Ministry of Economy and Finance, before being appointed Deputy Director General of Radio France in 2004. He then served as Director General for Resources and Secretary General of France Télévisions (2010 to 2014), before being appointed Director of the Office of the Minister of Culture and Communication (Aurélie Filippetti then Fleur Pellerin), then director general of media and cultural industries within this ministry (2015). He was a candidate for the presidency of Radio France in 2014.
