Karim Benzema is reportedly attempting to persuade his former Real Madrid teammate Ferland Mendy to leave Spain and join him at Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
According to Eduardo Inda, a chief analyst for OkDiario, who spoke on the Spanish TV program The ChiringuitoBenzema has been in contact with Mendy to discuss the move.
“Karim Benzema, currently the second-highest-paid player in the world, has suggested to Ferland Mendy that he should sign with Al-Ittihad next season,” Inda stated.
The French left-back, who has a contract with Real Madrid until 2027, is reportedly seeking a salary increase but is dissatisfied with his current standing at the club. Adding to the tension is Real Madrid’s rumored interest in Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, who plays in the same position as Mendy. This potential signing could further limit Mendy’s role in the team.
Al-Ittihad, keen to continue building a powerhouse squad in Saudi Arabia, sees Mendy as a valuable addition to bolster their defensive options. With Benzema already on board, the Saudi club hopes to lure more high-profile players to the team.
