DECRYPTION – In the event of rejection of the State budget or Social Security, the Constitution provides for provisions but the renewal of the 2024 budget would have surprises in store for households and businesses.
The government had been warned that the budgetary sequence was going to be tough. In September, Pierre Moscovici was already playing the Pythias by predicting that the 2025 finance bill would be « undoubtedly the most delicate budget of the Ve Republic ». Three months later, the prophecy of the first president of the Court of Auditors was confirmed. This 2025 budget is so delicate that Michel Barnier's government may not survive it.
