The Christmas bonus is eagerly awaited each year by the most modest households. It is generally paid in mid-December, most often on the 15th. Except that, this year, December 15 falls on a Sunday. It was therefore impossible to make the payment that day. A few days ago, Paul Christophe, Minister of Solidarity, indicated that it would be sent to beneficiaries on the 13th of the month. But the government has just announced a new date, which is a little later.
The new Christmas bonus payment date
It is in a joint press release that the Ministry of Solidarity, Autonomy and Equality between Women and Men, that of Labor and Employment and that of the Budget and Public Accounts announced the postponement of the date of payment of the four-day Christmas bonus. “All beneficiaries of the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the fixed bonus for resumption of activity and the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) will benefit from it. It will be paid automatically December 17, 2024, the week before the Christmas holidays”they declare. Concretely, with banking deadlines, beneficiaries should see it appear in their bank account between December 17 and 20.
No increase in the Christmas bonus in 2024
The amount of the Christmas bonus has remained unchanged for several years now, even with the economic crisis and inflation which have raged. Near West FrancePaul Christophe recalled that this aid “has never been indexed to inflation” to justify the decision not to revalue it. Likewise, while last year there was an increase for single-parent families, this will not be the case in 2024, his ministry indicated.
