Emergency services warned this Wednesday morning around 5:30 a.m. that a fire was in progress in the city center. The situation was under control around 10 a.m.
A house caught fire during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Esch-sur-Alzette. Firefighters clarified this morning that the fire took place on rue Victor Hugo, which was closed to traffic. Police say a resident was seriously injured during this event. She was taken to hospital by emergency services.
Firefighters battled the flames for several hours, with police recommending that the area be largely bypassed.
Firefighters from Kayl, Pétange and Sanem-Differdange were on site. One injured person was treated, the severity of his injuries was not known at this time.
Around 10 a.m., investigators were on site to collect evidence to determine the causes of the fire.
