Under Thomas Tuchel, all of FC Bayern’s opponents sensed their chance. With coach Vincent Kompany, respect is back again.

Munich – Under Thomas Tuchel, all of FC Bayern’s opponents saw their chance. With coach Vincent Kompany, respect is back after the first titleless season since 2012. The 3-0 win against FC Augsburg on Friday evening was Munich’s sixth clean sheet win in a row.

“We have earned respect again. Opponents come and say: ‘Okay, we have to be good first. Because Bayern has developed an offensive power,’” stated sports director Max Eberl.

Joshua Kimmich agreed. “You notice that the opponents are adapting, playing more defensively, concentrating more on defending,” analyzed the six. “You notice that the opponent is very far away from our goal. So it feels really good for us to win 1-0.”

Since the 1:4 debacle on October 23rd in the Champions League at FC Barcelona and former coach Hansi Flick, Bayern’s record has been flawless. The impressive goal tally? 17:0!

“I also felt very ready for Barcelona because the style of football felt good. We had confidence in the way we did things – and now we are being rewarded. We must not let up on this. Keeping a clean sheet at the back must always be the basis,” said Kimmich before the Weeks of Truth.

On Tuesday (9 p.m./Amazon Prime Video), FC Bayern will host Saint-Germain in the Champions League league phase. The top games follow in Dortmund (November 30th) and in the DFB Cup against Leverkusen (December 3rd).

“If you win on Friday night, the weekend is nice. The anticipation of three highlight games begins on Sunday. Three competitions in a very short space of time against extremely well-known and good opponents,” said Eberl after the win against Augsburg and emphasized: “It’s actually anticipation! And we can also look forward to it because we have developed stability, we have quality going forward.”

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is also in a positive mood and sees the team “very well” prepared for the upcoming top games. “We feel comfortable on the pitch with what is being asked of us. I don’t think any of the three teams are looking forward to meeting us,” said the FC Bayern captain, who struggled with rib problems last week. “Everything’s okay again.”

Star striker Harry Kane was also already looking ahead. “We have a big week ahead of us,” said the three-goal scorer on Friday. “But we’re in good shape, the team is feeling good – and we just have to keep going.”

Bayern boss Max Eberl expects courageous Paris Saint-Germain

It starts on Tuesday against PSG. The game against the French, 25th in the premier class table, could be a spectacle. “I don’t expect them to be low,” said Eberl. “When I look at the table in the Champions League, where PSG have four points, I think they have to start scoring points at some point. They should try that – but we would like to keep three points here.”
